Cryotherapy is a quick & easy method of removing skin lesions through the process of freezing them which cuts off the blood supply to the skin lesion, this is done using liquid nitrogen.

Cryotherapy is effective with removing moles, skin tags and cherry angiomas
What is Cryotherapy & how does it work?

During this treatment, liquid nitrogen, a gas that creates freezing temperatures, is applied to the area in order to freeze the skin lesion such as a skin tag or mole.

The cells in the skin lesion for example a skin tag is killed by the freezing temperature of the liquid nitrogen, which also stops the area’s blood supply, leading the skin tag to dry up and fall off on its own. In some circumstances, discomfort and brief skin discolouration may happen, and if the skin tag doesn’t break out, more treatment may be needed.

What is a skin lesion?

Skin lesions are any area of your skin that's abnormal from the skin around it, when we mention skin lesion we are referring to skin tags, warts, moles and cherry angiomas.

Is the treatment painful?
This is a non-surgical treatment carried out with liquid nitrogen, therefore the treatment is largely pain-free however can be slightly uncomfortable.
How many sessions will I need?

1-2 sessions is typically required. Most skin lesions will fall off after one treatment however in some circumstances more than one session may be required. When treating many skin lesions a package will be required in order to treat all of them which may need to be done over a few appointments.

How do I know if I need a package of 3 sessions?

A package of 3 is perfect for those with more than 10 skin lesions e.g skin tags or those who would need more than 1 session

Can any area be treated?

Yes, we can remove skin lesions such as moles and skin tags from any area.

I have a skin tag very close to my eye can this be removed safely?

Yes, Cryotherapy can be done on any body part. When treating the eye area the eye is covered for protection.

How soon will I see my results?
Over the next few days after your cryotherapy treatment, a scab will form over your skin lesion. This will typically take between one to two weeks to fall off. On most occasions, the lesion will have gone and your skin will look normal. However, some do need a second treatment.

What are the possible side affects?
You may experience some minor swelling, sensitivity or redness at the treatment site, but this settles down within 24-48 hours without intervention.
Blistering sometimes occurs, but this should settle down once a scab forms. Some people blister more easily than others in response to the freezing.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime, you can return to your daily activities right after your treatment.

What is a skin tag?
A skin tag is a small, loose patch of skin that hangs from the body. Skin tags can appear anywhere on the body, but are most common in areas where clothes or other skin contact occurs such as underarms, underneath the breast area, the groin area and around the neck.

Skin tags are fairly common and typically appear after midlife; they begin small and flat like a pinhead bump but frequently develop wider and can range in diameter from 2 mm to 1 cm, with a small percentage of large skin tags growing to 5 cm.
